Grants available for 2008 Conservation Innovation Grants Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service has $1 million available for 2008 Conservation Innovation Grants Program projects in Colorado.

Applicants can receive up to $75,000 for improving conservation practices. Those eligible include federally recognized Indian tribes, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations and individuals.

Selected applicants may receive grants up to 50 percent of the total project cost, and must provide non-federal matching money for at least 50 percent, of which 50 percent may be in-kind contributions.

Applications are available at www.co.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/cig/ cig.htm. The deadline is March 31.
