LPP seeking nominees for community leader awards
Leadership Pikes Peak is seeking nominations for its community leadership awards.
There are three categories:
The Community Inspiration Leadership Award recognizes a LPP graduate who is an outstanding volunteer and leads a community effort or nonprofit organization in the Pikes Peak region. The award acknowledges someone for stepping up, for giving his or her time and talents, and for taking a leadership role.
The Modeling the Way Community Leadership Award recognizes a LPP graduate whose community leadership in his or her professional and personal life has motivated colleagues, friends, family or community members to get involved. This person is a team builder or a collaboration builder.
The Mary Lou Makepeace Community Trustee Award recognizes an individual whose sustained community leadership has had a lasting impact on a broad segment of the Pikes Peak region. This award is LPP's highest accolade and is named after former Colorado Springs mayor and former Leadership Pikes Peak executive director Mary Lou Makepeace for her vision and commitment to Colorado Springs. Past recipients of this award have demonstrated the most exemplary and highest sustained commitment to community trusteeship.

Business.gov adds state, local search features
Business.gov has launched new search features and expanded content that make it easier for small business owners to find forms, licenses, permits and regulatory information from federal, state and local governments.
In addition to federal government resources, business owners now have access to more than 9,000 state, territory, county and city government Web sites that provide information about starting and managing a business while complying with regulations.
Business.gov's new search service is a "mashup" -- a service created by combining content from separate Web applications -- of Google-based services that include Google's Custom Search Business Edition, Google Maps, the Google Search Appliance and publicly available compliance information culled from federal, state and local government Web sites.
For example, if a user types in "business license Richmond, VA" the relevant results on licenses will be returned from the City of Richmond and State of Virginia Web sites.
Business.gov also has expanded the content of its Small Business Guides, which help business owners understand what regulations and programs apply to them, how to comply and how to stay in compliance while growing and managing their operations.
