Volunteers needed for Make a Difference Month in the Pikes Peak
Colorado Springs Business Journal, Sep 28, 2007
What a difference a day makes -- so much so that the annual Make a Difference Day event has been expanded to Make a Difference Month in the Pikes Peak region.
The mega-volunteer event, spearheaded by Pikes Peak United Way and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, needs more than 1,500 volunteers to help more than 36 local agencies and organizations with more than 150 projects.
This year's list of volunteer opportunities span a wide range of interests, from indoor projects such as helping stock the Care & Share Food Bank to outdoor trail building in Red Rock Canyon for Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation. Many Silver Key seniors, because of age and frailty, are in need of assistance with yard work, while the ARC is seeking volunteers to escort a group of individuals with disabilities to the zoo.
For more information, or to volunteer, visit www.volunteerpikespeak.org or call Maggie Brubaker of United Way at 955-0741.
