The 10th Air Base Wing has received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for exceptional meritorious service as the support wing for the Air Force Academy.

Specifically cited were its efforts to provide security for six NCAA football games with more than 180,000 attendees. The 10th ABW also supported the academy's academic mission and installed a $300,000 wireless network in the six-story Fairchild Hall, enabling laptop use for 4,400 cadets.

The 10th Medical Group received an "excellent" Health Services Inspection rating and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations "accreditation" status.

The fire protection flight was the first in the Air Force to receive the National Firefighters Association Accreditation twice and finished first regionally and fifth nationally in the 2006 Fire Fighter Combat Challenge.

Golf Digest also recognized the Eisenhower Golf Course as a No. 1 value and it was rated as the top golf operation within the Department of Defense.
