Seven of 24 federal agencies meet SBA goals
Colorado Springs Business Journal, Aug 24, 2007
The U.S. Small Business Administration has released its inaugural Small Business Procurement Scorecard.
Federal agencies were measured for their achievements and progress in making contracting opportunities available to small businesses, their improvement in the accuracy of contracting data regarding small businesses and their ability to provide the public the opportunity to assess performance in meeting the goals.
The departments of Agriculture, Energy, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Veterans Affairs and the SBA met their small business contracting goals.
The SBA rated 24 agencies green, yellow or red for whether they reached their annual small business contracting goals and for their progress to make contracting opportunities available to small businesses.
To achieve a green rating, the agency had to meet its overall small business contracting goal, as well as the goals for at least three subcategories. Seven agencies were rated green, five yellow and 12 red for current status. Under "progress," 12 agencies were rated green, eight yellow and four red.
The scorecard will be updated every six months and is available at www.sba.gov.
