Novation Announces Robert "Bob" Majors Memorial Scholarship

Market Wire,  August, 2007

Novation, LLC, the health care contracting services company of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), announced today its first memorial scholarship named in honor of Robert "Bob" Majors who passed away in January 2007.

Mr. Majors was the director of materials management at Bloomington Hospital in Indiana. He dedicated 30 years of his life to materials management and worked vigorously throughout the health care industry to enhance supply chain management. He was very active on advisory councils at Novation, VHA and UHC and faithfully participated on numerous committees that were focused in his areas of expertise.

"Bob was a leader, teacher and champion of his profession with a lifelong commitment to giving back in both his professional and personal life," said Jody Hatcher, senior vice president at Novation. "In collaboration with VHA and UHC, Novation established this scholarship to honor his commitment to learning, his many contributions to health care supply chain management and his unwavering support of Novation, VHA and UHC."

Beginning in 2008, Novation will award two scholarships annually to eligible materials management staff -- one for a VHA member and one for a UHC member -- each in the amount of $2,500. Recipients of the scholarship can use the award to cover costs associated with attending and participating in a materials management-related conference or leadership education opportunity.

Applications will be accepted from August 1 through September 21.

To be considered for the scholarship, eligible VHA and UHC applicants must complete an online application at www.novationco.com/other/scholarship and must meet the following criteria:

-- Applicant must be a permanent full-time employee at a VHA or UHC member
    facility
-- Applicant must work in materials management
-- Applicant must have at least one year of experience in current position
-- Applicant must complete questions detailing how they feel they exhibit
    Mr. Major's leadership characteristics
-- Applications must be received by Sept. 21 deadline

"We will never forget Bob and his efforts to continually improve the supply chain industry. This scholarship is our way of commemorating his name while helping others to increase their knowledge and hone their skills in materials management," said Hatcher.
