G.W. Little to Judge National Dog Day 2007 Fashion Show

Market Wire,  August, 2007

On August 26, 2007, Thousand Oaks, CA-based small dog catalog company G.W. Little will be privileged to judge a small dog fashion show at this year's National Dog Day to be held at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California.

The 2nd annual National Dog Day celebration is all about getting dogs adopted. In 2006 National Dog Day helped to save 12,056 dogs across the U.S. The goal set this year by Colleen Paige, the founder of The Animal Miracle Foundation and creator of the event, is 15,000 dogs. Celebrated by dog lovers nationwide, National Dog Day is the day shelters, businesses and humane organizations host adoption events, parties and celebrations around the country to encourage not only canine adoptions, but also donations made to local animal shelters in an effort to save displaced pets. Over 300 National Dog Day events took place across the nation in 2006 facilitating the adoption of over 12,000 dogs.

"National Dog Day serves to help galvanize the public to recognize not only the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, but to also acknowledge the dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort," explains Paige. "Particularly after 9/11, I really felt it was time to honor dogs more than we currently do. Over 300 dogs assisted with that rescue effort and some gave their lives," she notes. "I felt compelled to give them 'a day,' to show deep appreciation for our long connection to each other -- for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work, their capacity for love. Animals have the capacity to impact our lives every day in the most miraculous ways. National Dog Day wishes to encourage dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure -- and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and 'abuse-free life.'"

This year's event will be from 10am - 6pm on August 26th. G.W. Little founders, husband and wife team John and Angela Grieco, will be judging a "Little Dog Model Search" at 4pm. The first place winner will receive a custom photo shoot for a cover spot on one of their upcoming catalogs, along with a $300 gift certificate. Second and third place finishers will both receive G.W. Little gift certificates good for any small dog fashion item or other necessity items from their catalog or online website, www.gwlittle.com .

Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Animal Miracle Foundation and PAWS L.A. The $35 ticket price (kids 3 and under are free!) is good for an all day -- all you can eat and drink menu, 500 adoptable dogs, vendor booths, Ferris wheel, carousel, swimming, water slide, paddle boats, dog shows, dog adoptions, film festival, dog parade, doggie water park and daycare, face painting, balloon animals, entertainment and so much more.
