National Catholic Reporter,  August 8, 2008

Pay packets at the monastery of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Ind., will be a bit thicker this month when the sisters begin reimbursing their 49 full-time and 24 part-time employees for the gas they use to drive back and forth to work. Under the temporary program, the sisters pay the employees the cost of gas above $3 a gallon based on an estimate of gallons used and miles driven.

The first payments ranged from $81.40 to 88 cents.
