A tribunal in the Liverpool, England, archdiocese has completed a 12-year investigation into the life and work of Passionist Ft. Ignatius Spencer, the great-great-great-uncle of Princess Diana of Wales, whose sons are Princes William and Harry. The tribunal has recommended that Spencer, who died in 1864, be declared a person of heroic virtue, the first step toward sainthood.

According to the the official advocate for canonization, Spencer's two great loves were ecumenism and cricket.
