Marco Frisina

National Catholic Reporter,  Jan 19, 2007

Msgr. Marco Frisina, a composer and liturgist for the Rome diocese, has composed an extravagant musical version of Dante's "The Divine Comedy," featuring symphonic music in heaven, Gregorian chant in purgatory, and rock, punk and heavy metal music in hell. That's not a value judgment on rock music, Frisina told Vatican Radio.

It just seemed to fit the spirit of rebellion in Dante's description of the inferno, he said. The production is to premiere in Rome in the fall and then tour Europe.
