Cuba trip on Vatican itinerary
National Catholic Reporter, Oct 26, 2007
VATICAN CITY -- The Vatican's secretary of state Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone will visit Cuba early next year and possibly pay a visit to its ailing leader, Fidel Castro. Though it will be the first time he visits Cuba as the Vatican's No. 2 official, Bertone traveled there and met with Castro in 2005 when he was the archbishop of Genoa, Italy.
Vatican sources did not have dates for the cardinal's trip, other than occurring "at the beginning of the year."
