Prime of My Life. - sound recording reviews

Phyllis Hyman makes a strong comeback on her latest recording, Prime Of My Life (Zoo/Philadelphia International). From the first sultry song, "When You Get Right Down To It," to the last, "Whatever Happened To Our Love," the talented and sensuous lady demonstrates her skill as a premier vocal stylist.

The upbeat, infectious "Don't Wanna Change The World" understandably is the first single. But also notable are moving, jazzy ballads like "Walk Away" and "When I Give My Love," and the moody "Meet Me On The Moon." With executive producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff lending their expertise, the recording is destined to be a winner among lovers of romantic jazz singing.
