1. After the crash of a Congolese jetliner in Goma, a Congolese woman cries after seeing a family member at a morgue. The aircraft carrying 79 passengers and crew crashed on takeoff, careening off a runway into a busy neighborhood and bursting into flames. At least 21 people were killed, but most of those aboard survived, an airline official said.

2. In Rio de Janeiro, British model Naomi Campbell talks with the media after she was unable to donate blood for victims of dengue at Hemorio center. Campbell could not donate blood because she had undergone surgery five weeks prior to trying to make the blood donation. Dengue, a mosquito-borne disease, has killed nearly 100 people and infected more than 70,000 in Brazil this year.

3. After a quick succession of deadly riots in Haiti, people wait for food at a United Nations distribution center in Port-au-Prince. Hundreds of Haitians stood in long lines, many of whom had walked for hours during the week to arrive at the point of distribution to receive the U.N. and regional food aid.
