Janet Jackson

Rarely am I moved to write a letter to a publication to comment on an article. However, after reading your story, "Does Janet Still Have It?" (April 2008), on Janet Jackson, I felt compelled to write and tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Does Janet Jackson still have it? Of course she does because she certainly never lost it! Janet has always been a phenomenal entertainer and showcases amazing talent. She continues to attract record crowds wherever she performs.

I enjoyed reading about Janet's nurturing side with her young dancers who she affectionately refers to as the "kids." This was a mature side of her that I have never seen before, and it endeared her to me even more! American society tends to view growing older as some sort of a disease, but Janet Jackson proves that growing older is something to embrace and celebrate as she keeps getting better and better.

Your article was a breath of fresh air by showing how Janet continues to excite her fans, young and old alike. There's no doubt in my mind that Janet Jackson is definitely a musical icon. She's certainly in control of an amazing career that keeps going and going, again and again.

Kudos to EBONY for another insightful and thorough article on a member of one of our royal Black music families.
