The Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

Ebony,  May, 2005

THE sixth annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, sponsored in part by EBONY, featured a variety of award-winning vocalists, including Patti LaBelle and Bonnie McClurkin, during the inspiration-filled evening that kicked off the Super Bowl weekend festivities.

The star-studded event, which took place at Jacksonville's (Fla.) Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church and was hosted by Antwaan Randle El of the Pittsburgh Steelers, attracted more than 4,000 attendees. In addition to the soul-stirring gospel music, there were emotional testimonies from some NFL players, as well as the presentation of a pair of Super Bowl tickets presented by EBONY, the exclusive Super Bowl Gospel Celebration print partner.

The Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, which continues to grow in popularity, evolved from the desire of Christian NFL players who wanted an inspirational, family-oriented event during Super Bowl weekend.
