Sisterspeak

Ebony,  Nov, 2007  by Janice Smith

I enjoyed the August 2007 "Sisterspeak," written by the gifted and talented Shirley Murdock, "I Love Me Better Than That." I found the article to be very inspirational for our "Women of Color." Facts are facts, and Shirley lays it on the line as to how to respect and love you.

As women of color, we have been the support system for pretty much everyone. We love and support our men of color as well as raising our children to become outstanding individuals. We balance our daily activities, at home and work, and some of us even go to school to improve ourselves.

We cannot allow anyone or anything to pull us down or degrade us. We must begin by loving ourselves. Shirley's voice has penetrated the hearts of many African-American women. We are made in the image of GOD. We are blessed beyond measures. Now is the time to appreciate and enjoy those multiple blessings.

Thank you, Shirley Murdock, for such an inspiring message.
