I commend you for the article, "Queen Latifah On A Roll" (Oct. 2007), presenting Queen Latifah as the beautiful, talented "queen" that she has become.
I have been unable to identify with the hip-hop culture, therefore, I had not appreciated Queen Latifah's great talent, beauty and femininity when she was a rapper. It was not until The Dana Owens Album was released in 2004 that I became an avid Queen Latifah fan. I loved her rendition of the old standards on this album. Her enunciation was so clear and her voice had such an extraordinarily beautiful quality that I realized she is a truly fabulous artist.
Queen Latifah, in my opinion, has evolved into a megastar, who has become a role model for Black women, regardless of their dress size--plus or otherwise. She has proven to be highly intelligent and unlimited in what she can do successfully. She has succeeded as a performing artist, a producer and as an entrepreneur.
This star of TV, film and music is the personification of a feminine, talented woman who respects herself and others. She can be very candid, but maintains a proper balance between her public and private life. That's hard for a celebrity to do because we, the public, have an insatiable desire to know the infinitesimal details of celebrities' personal lives. The article revealed Queen Latifah as a very strong, smart and talented woman. I like that.
