2007 Black college queens

Elegance, grace and class best describe the 2007 Black College Queens. This year's group includes future educators, journalists, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers and humanitarians from historically Black colleges and universities.

AFTER THE STORM, the campuses of Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans, Xavier University and several other HBCUs in the Gulf Coast region were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. All three of the New Orleans schools resumed classes within a year of the storm. And the campus queens are representing their respective schools with true pride. At Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World in New Orleans, queens include MISS XAVIER UNIVERSITY Sundee Atrelle Warren of Baton Rouge, La., is a biology/pre-medicine major who plans to become a pediatrician; MISS DILLARD UNIVERSITY Dianna Maria Green of Chicago, is a biology/pre-medicine major. She plans to attend medical school; and MISS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT NEW ORLEANS Tamika Ann Boyer of Baldwin, La., a social work major, plans to obtain a master's degree in social work.

Morgan Ashley Chatman is MISS ALABAMA A&M UNI VERSITY. The Huntsville, Ala., native is a business management major and plans to pursue an MBA and a juris doctorate simultaneously.

Kihmberly Jackson is MISS ALABAMA STATE UNIVERSITY. The Atlanta native is an English education major wants to teach English at her alma mater, Frederick Douglass High School.

MISS ALLEN UNIVERSITY Nezhla Astara Sanderson of Nashville, Ind., is a biology major who plans to pursue a master's degree in science and then teach biology at a high school.

Nadia J. Muhammad is MISS BENEDICT COLLEGE. The Atlanta native is a mass communications major who plans to own a public relations firm and establish an "Our Youth Literacy" foundation

Johnette Reed is MISS BENNETT COLLEGE. The Toms River, N.J., native is pursuing a degree in journalism and media studies. She plans to become an anchor for CNN.

MISS BETHUNE-COOKMAN COLLGE Mildred Bien-Aime of Miami is an elementary education major who plans to obtain her master's degree in administration.

Dorethea Edwards is MISS CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY. The Detroit native is a marketing major who plans to open a dance studio for students who live in urban areas.

MISS JOHNSON C. SMITH UNIVERSITY Aisha Nicole Lide of Charlotte, N.C., is a communication arts major with a concentration in graphic design and journalism. She plans to earn a master of fine arts degree at Savannah College of Art and Design.

MISS BLUEFIELD STATE COLLEGE Latasha Nicole Dowell of Bluefield, W. Va., is a criminal justice administration major, She plans to obtain a master's degree in counseling.

Jessica Nicole Reed is MISS BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY. The Clinton, Md., native is a psychology major and a business administration minor. She plans to obtain a master's degree in social work at Howard University.

At Cedar Grove Mansion Inn & Restaurant in Vicksburg, Miss., MISS JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY Courtney S.V. Rutledge of Dayton, Ohio, is a speech communications studies major who plans to become involved in entertainment law and congressional work. MISS ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY Trena M. Boyd of Carrollton, Miss., is an accounting major who plans to attend law school and focus on corporate law, later opening a financial management firm. MISS TOUGALO0 COLLEGE Kewanna D. Daniels of Gulfport, Miss., is an interdisciplinary career-oriented humanities major with an emphasis in English. She plans to get a master's in speech communications and work as a prevention specialist for drug and alcohol awareness, HIV/AIDS prevention and participate in a leadership development program.

MISS CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Mia Ruth Keeys of Ceilingsdale, Pa., is an English and psychology double major who plans to become a child psychologist.

Rebekah Williams is MISS CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY. The Dallas native is a psychology major. She plans to obtain her master's in Christian counseling and a doctorate in divinity.

MISS COPPIN STATE UNIVERSITY Radience Monique Pittman of Jackson, Miss,, is an urban arts production major with a concentration in theater. She plans to pursue a career in radio or television broadcasting.

Miss Claflin University Ny'Re Dawn Sanders is a mass communications major with a concentration in public relations. She plans to receive a doctorate and teach mass communications.

Nokuthula Ndebele is MISS CONCORDIA COLLEGE. The Waco, Texas, native is a business administration major. She plans to get a master's in marketing and start a business in event-planning,

MISS DELAWARE STATE UNIVERSITY Dana T. Robinson of Baltimore will attend graduate school and open an events-planning business. She hopes to establish an organization for underprivileged children.

Krystal N. Brinson is MISS FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY. The Fort Valley, Ga., native is a biology major who plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in the field of pediatrics. She hopes to own her own practice.
