Barack and Michelle Obama: America's Next First Couple?

Ebony,  April, 2007  by Miriam Adams-Washington,  Mikki C. Zimmerman,  Henry McPeak,  Eloris H. Roussell

I couldn't wait to read my February, 2007 issue of Ebony, especially since Mr. and Mrs. Obama were on the cover. The article, "America's Next First Couple?" gave a great overview of two seemingly great people. I have been fascinated with Mr. Obama since I read his first book, Dreams From My Father. At that time I didn't even know who he was, but the book was literally an open book of his life. I've been hooked ever since. I'm currently reading his new book, The Audacity of Hope, and it's another great book. He keeps it real, and that's what our country needs right now.

Lynn Norment wrote an amazing story on the Obamas. Their love story displays elements that are critical for the survival of a relationship--trust, commitment and patience.

Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, exudes qualities all women should possess. Not only is she strong, confident and beautiful, I believe she keeps him grounded as he soars in his political endeavors. This is truly the hottest couple in America.

Thank you, Ebony, for this story and all of the great love stories you've written. They are so inspirational to me. Keep them coming!

Thank you for the beautiful photos and article on Mr. & Mrs. Barack Obama and the possibility of their becoming America's first couple. The possibility can become a fact if we, African-Americans, do one thing-get out and vote!

I enjoy reading your magazine. Your February issue was one of your finest. And I loved the cover and cover story, "Sen. Barack And Michelle Obama: America's Next First Couple?" It was a far, far cry from your October 2006 cover on Janet Jackson, which was so revealing and so "unEbony." But we all make mistakes.
