Kaios! Writings by and about Katherine Dunham

Ebony,  August, 2006

KAISO! WRITINGS BY AND ABOUT KATHERINE DUNHAM (University of Wisconsin Press, $24.95), edited by VeVe A. Clark and Sara E. Johnson, celebrates the life and work of the late Dunham, a major figure in 20th century dance, anthropology and social activism. Kaiso, a term of praise that is the equivalent of bravo in Calypso, is a fitting title for the book.

Originally produced in the 1970s, this newly revised and much-expanded edition includes recent scholarly articles, Dunham's essays on dance and anthropology, press reviews, interviews, and chapters from Dunham's unpublished memoirs.
