FLOYD PATTERSON became the youngest heavyweight champion when, at 21, he knocked out Archie Moore in 1956. The 1952 Olympic gold medalist lost the title to Ingemar Johansson in 1959, but became the first heavyweight champion to regain the title when he knocked out Johansson in their second bout in 1960.
Patterson, who retired from boxing in 1972 and joined the New York State Athletic Commission, died in May at age 71.
