Summer shaving tips

Ebony,  July, 2006

Now that warm weather is here, many women will opt to shave certain areas, and that can lead to irritation for some. Here are tips for a safe, smooth shave:

* Before you shave, wash the area with an antibacterial soap and press a warm washcloth on your skin to soften the hair. Apply a shaving cream or gel to protect and lubricate your skin.

* Never shave dry skin because it can cause razor burn.

* With a clean, sharp razor, shave in the direction of hair growth. Shaving against the direction of hair growth can cause ingrown hairs.

* Rinse your skin and apply a light moisturizing lotion. Heavier lotions or moisturizers can clog pores.
