Tye Tribbett

Ebony,  July, 2006  by Lynn Norment

TYE TRIBBETT inspires listeners to get out of their seats and praise-dance--or at least wave a hand in testimony. Backed by his choir, Greater Anointing, the energetic music man delivers an exciting, spirit-filled set with Victory Live (Sony Urban/Columbia), which was recorded live at Philadelphia's Deliverance Evangelistic Church.

It is not surprising that this son of two preachers has found his calling, for he grew up in the church, and church music is a part of his very being. But this is not your ordinary church music. Tribbett--like Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans and others before him--defies music boundaries. But Tribbett does so with exceptional electric energy. Kim Burrell joins Tribbett and the choir on the moving "Everything Will Be Alright" while his sister, DeMaris Tribbett, graces listeners with her angelic voice on "Right Hand of God"
