The untold story

Ebony,  July, 2006  by Nakinya Clark,  Andrea Moore

I am writing in response to the article, the Untold Story of Martin and Coretta Scott King" (April 2006). I would first of all like to say that it was a wonderful idea to let people know about her and Martin

Luther King Jr.

I personally had no idea about all of the wonderful accomplishments that Coretta Scott King accomplished before and after she was married. Mrs. King was there for Dr. King, regardless of what was going on in the world. This was one of the best articles I have read in a very long time. I am glad to see that Coretta Scott King is finally getting some well-deserved respect.

The article, "The Untold Story of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King" by Ambassador Andrew Young, touched my heart deeply. The courage this woman possessed to destroy racial barriers will impact the Black community forever. Mrs. King and Dr. King, along with other civil rights leaders, paved the beginning of the path to help people be seen for what their character is, rather than the shade of their skin. Thanks to their courage, we're able to enjoy opportunities that generations before me could only dream about.

This profound woman's life is a legacy. Even after Dr. King's death, she continued to push the world not to see things in black and white. Her strong will was a great benefit to our society. Although she will forever be missed, her legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Thank you for this article.
