Memorable moments in black history

Ebony,  June, 2006  by Yvonne W. Turner

Thanks for the article, "Memorable Moments in Black History (1945-2005)," in your February 2006 issue.

However, it would be wonderful if you included in your future articles, the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights, organized on June 5, 1956, by the Rev. Fred L. Shuttles-worth, the Rev. Nelson Smith, the late Mrs. Lucinda B. Robey and others. That organization invited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his staff to Birmingham and became an affiliate of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Together, they worked to get the Civil Rights Bill signed.
