Coretta Scott King

Ebony,  June, 2006  by Eric Isaac,  Larry McGuier,  Lachez Hampton,  Brittney Grimes

Thank you for the great article "Remembering Coretta Scott King" (April 2006), on the legendary woman of the Civil Rights Movement. She had carried on the spirit and hope of her late husband's fight for freedom so many years, and she has earned the great respect of all her peers around the world. This generation owes a great tribute to this beautiful woman, and may her great legacy continue as long as we have love and peace in this world!

I just finished reading the issue of EBONY with the tribute to Coretta Scott King in it, and it knocked water from my eyes. I idolize African-American women for their determination, not only to succeed, but to succeed in whatever their hearts desire. They're actresses, biologists, entrepreneurs, engineers, entertainers, CEOs, Secretary of State, etc.

I feel as though we (the African-American males) have defied the laws of God and nature, and have abandoned our Sisters.

Thank you for the wonderful Coretta Scott King cover and the untold story of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. Not only did she look gorgeous, but the article made me love and appreciate her even more. The writer truly captures her spirit. I am sure that Coretta Scott King will be on many covers in the future, but how wonderful that your magazine was one of the first.

Great job!

My name is Brittney Grimes, and I am 16 years old. The April edition on Coretta Scott King was beautiful. I've learned so much more about Mrs. King than I would have ever learned in school.

As an African-American teenager, I realize that we must keep Dr. King's Dream alive. We cannot forget our ancestors who paved the way for us. So many teenagers forget about the sacrifices that were made on our behalf. I will never forget!

I received a letter from Mrs. King's office a couple of days before her stroke. I will cherish that letter for the rest of my life.
