IN CHICAGO, a massive fire destroyed the historic, 115-year-old Pilgrim Baptist Church, acknowledged as the birthplace of gospel music. Thomas A. Dorsey, "the father of gospel music," trained generations of singers there, beginning with Mahalia Jackson. A number of other gospel stars also earned their fame at the church, including Albertina Walker, the Edwin Hawkins Singers, the Barrett Sisters and James Cleveland.

IN LOS ANGELES, superstar entertainer Stevie Wonder is joined by his daughter Aisha at the Recording Academy's second annual Grammy Jam, The event celebrated the career of the 22-time Grammy Award-winner and was held in conjunction with the Entertainment Industry Foundation, which raised funds for the arts and music education. Also in attendance at the event were (left) Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx, music director Rickey Minor and his wife Karen.
