ONE PARTICULAR NOTICEABLE TREND that stretched across the ocean during the Spring 2008 fashion presentations was an overcast, ethereal look in womenswear. Sometimes the designs called to mind a beautiful cloudy sky with streaks of glistening sunlight. Other fashions were reminiscent of a dark and rainy sky. In all cases, the attire was beautiful and reminded us that it's time to think spring and lighten up the attitude and the wardrobe. To convey this cloudy yet inviting atmosphere, several designers used silvery fabrics with an iridescent sheen, sometimes with sheer fabrics; in other cases the mood was evoked with shimmery linens or pewter-hued satins and rich brocades. So when you are updating your spring wardrobe, don't be discouraged by cloudy skies. Be inspired by the beauty above.
