Wayne B. Williams, wearing glasses (c.), was under heavy security while being taken from Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Dec. 28, 1981. Williams was convicted of the deaths of two Atlanta Black youths in connection with the succession of deaths known as the "Atlanta Child Murders." Police believe he may have been responsible for up to 28 deaths. Williams was sentenced to two life terms in prison.
