Terri Dean: Verizon Business senior vice president of global communications

Ebony,  July, 2006

Terri Dean is senior vice president of global communications for Verizon Business, a multibillion-dollar unit that grew out of Verizon Inc.'s acquisition of MCI in January 2006. She is responsible for informing consumers around the globe about the company's strategic direction. Prior to her promotion, Bean served as president of Verizon's Connected Solutions.

She is active in the civic community, serving as the executive sponsor of the Atlanta University Center (AUC), a consortium that provides quality education for African-Americans and other students of diverse backgrounds. Additionally, she has recruited dozens of African-American college graduates to work for Verizon, and this year, she has a goal of attracting at least 50 talented African-Americans to work at Verizon Business. Dean received a bachelor's degree from Chatham College in Pittsburgh. She currently lives in the Philadelphia area.
