Rosa Parks
Ebony, Feb, 2006 by Thelma Wilson, Toni Dalvin, Dolores B. Vaught
It is sad that we have lost another of our precious icons. And that is what Rosa Parks was--a precious icon! I was so happy to see her on the January cover and the tribute, "Remembering Rosa Parks" (Jan. 2006). Thank you, Ebony, for giving "the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement" the respect and honor that she deserves.

I would like to express my sympathy to all Blacks or African-Americans after losing our lovely mother, Rosa Parks, 92, who played a huge role in Black history. May the Lord award her soul in peace.

I think it is of particular significance that Rosa Parks lay in honor for public viewing in the Capitol Rotunda--first woman ever--regardless of race!!
