Hair care for sisters
Ebony, Jan, 2006
q: "I'm product of my natural premature gray highlights, but the're turning yellow. I want sparkling silver streaks like the jazz diva Nancy Wilson and the fabulous Lena Horne. What can I do?"
--Almost a Silver Fox, Chicago.
a: Dear Silver Fox:
"The problem could be doe to a buildup of hair care product, hot curling too often, or not shampooing often enough with a shampoo designed especially for cleaning gray hair. Violet is the color that neutralizes yellow, so look for a shampoo that is designed for this purpose [it will have violet in its formula]. Be sure to read everything on the label before applying product to the hair. and use as directed. Shampoo and condition your hair every four days, until you wonder where the yellow went!"
