Stafford L. Thompson Jr.: VP & corporate actuary of North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Co

North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company has named Stafford L. Thompson Jr. vice president and corporate actuary. In this position, his responsibilities include monitoring pricing insurance, developing corporate strategy and supervising product development at the oldest and largest insurance company in the United States with roots in the African-American community.

Before joining North Carolina Mutual Life, Thompson worked at Transamerica Reinsurance, where he was a pricing actuary. He is president of the International Association of Black Actuaries and a member of the Joint Minority Recruiting Committee of the Society of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society. Thompson also is active in Omega Psi Phi fraternity and serves as national committee chairman. He graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a concentration in actuarial science. He and his wife, Michelle Thompson, live in Durham, N.C.
