Celebrities speak up - Special Section - Brief Article

In the fight against diabetes, several top celebrities are lending their voices to the American Diabetes Association in an attempt to educate the public about the variety of problems associated with the disease. Included among the group is NBA superstar Jerry Stackhouse, who doesn't have the disease, but has two sisters who died from diabetes complications while still in their 40s.

Both of his parents also have the disease Miss USA Shauntay Hinton (right) selected diabetes as her platform and has traveled the country to raise public awareness about the disease. Marvin Isley (below) of the legendary Isley Brothers has experienced a varlet of diabetes-related problems including a stroke and am rotation of both legs. He urges people to learn as much about the disease as possible, especially those who are most at risk.
