Myth vs. truth

Better Nutrition,  Nov, 2004

no pain, no ... pain

MYTH: Exercise needs to be strenuous to be effective.

TRUTH: Any movement is good for you. Don't aim for "exercise." Focus on "physical activity" instead. Dancing, gardening and nature walks are all beneficial forms of movement. And they may actually be safer than more strenuous forms of exercise. In addition to the risk of injury, strenuous exercise can suppress immunity, produce free radical oxidants and put your heart at risk.
