Respiratory infections can trigger strokes
Better Nutrition, March, 2005
Respiratory Infections Can Trigger Strokes: Common respiratory and urinary tract infections play a role in triggering heart attacks and strokes, a study of 40,000 medical records suggests. Infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia and cystitis raised the risk of a heart attack five-fold, and of a stroke three-fold, for the period a patient was ill.
The cause is probably the inflammation caused by the infections.
